MATERIALS

PLA, PETG, ABS, Nylon, and more — selected based on strength, temperature, flexibility, finish, and end use.

Florida 3D Print Works offers a growing range of filament options for prototypes, functional parts, and small-batch production. This page is built so you can show both your standard materials and a live stock section tied to Spoolman later.[web:1193][web:1200]

Material Selection Guide

Different jobs need different properties. PLA is often used for general-purpose prints and prototypes, PETG balances toughness and printability, ABS is valued for better heat resistance and toughness, and Nylon is commonly chosen for stronger functional parts and more demanding use cases.[web:1183][web:1186][web:1189]

PLAClean, rigid, easy

A great fit for concept models, general parts, fixtures, and applications where extreme heat resistance is not the main concern.[web:1183]

PETGBalanced and durable

Often chosen for functional parts because it offers better durability and chemical resistance than PLA while staying versatile.[web:1186][web:1189]

ABSTougher, warmer-use parts

Useful for parts that benefit from better impact and heat resistance than basic PLA applications.[web:1183]

NylonStrong and functional

A strong option for demanding functional parts where durability and performance matter more than simple display quality.[web:1181]

Best Use Cases

Prototypes

Quick-turn prints for fit checks, design review, and concept validation.

Functional Parts

Brackets, clips, adapters, housings, replacement parts, and practical-use components.

Short Runs

Small production batches for makers, online sellers, installers, and specialty jobs.

Live Stock Section

Spoolman includes a database, a REST API, and a web client, which makes it a good fit for driving a live filament inventory section on this page.[web:1193]

Its API is served under /api/v1/, so the cleanest long-term setup is to have WordPress pull or proxy the Spoolman data and render your in-stock materials, colors, remaining weight, and availability from there.[web:1200]

For now, this page gives you the visual layout. Later, you can replace the placeholder grid below with dynamic data from your Spoolman instance.[web:1193][web:1200]

Current Stock

This section is designed to become your dynamic stock display. For now, use it as a visual placeholder. Later, each card can be populated from Spoolman with material, brand, color, and remaining spool data.[web:1193][web:1200]

FAQ

Do you only print the materials listed here?

No. This page should cover your most common materials, but you can also note specialty filaments and request-based options.

Can I request a specific brand or color?

Yes. You can use this area to explain what is regularly stocked versus what may require ordering in for a job.

Will this page show live stock?

That is the goal. Spoolman exposes a REST API, so this page can be connected later to show live material inventory.[web:1193][web:1200]
